About Me
Hello, I'm Jack Kennedy, an energetic and detail-oriented financial services professional who recently moved to Sydney and is looking for work. With a strong foundation in biomedical engineering and mathematics, I excel in improving internal processes and creating effective automations for teams. My technical proficiency spans across key programming languages such as Python, SQL, and C#, and I'm actively pursuing certifications in Data Analytics and IT Automation with Python from Google.
Professional Journey
At TRAction Fintech Pty Ltd, I increased processing efficiency by writing and improving SQL scripts to fix data errors, developed multiple Excel/VBA macros to automate repetitive tasks, and designed custom Python scripts for data pre-processing. Additionally, I implemented a custom ChatGPT model for lead qualification, automating the collection of company websites, directors' lists, and brief histories to assess potential client suitability.
While at the Maples Group, I was responsible for monitoring trade loads, preparing regulatory reports, and supporting global teams. I automated trade loading processes using keystone and C# scripting and developed reconciliation templates using FundRecs.
At SEI Dublin, I maintained comprehensive data records, processed investor trade files, and delivered accurate client/investor reports. I trained junior analysts, developed client procedures, and optimized team relationships with large hedge fund clients.
Opportunity to Collaborate
I am looking to collaborate on any projects, small or big, for free - as I want to gain some more real life experience in software engineering and programming, email me to enquire
Skills and Technologies
In addition to Python, SQL, and C#, I am proficient in Microsoft Excel/VBA, Microsoft SQL Server, Geneva/Investran, Calastone/Keystone, ServiceNow, Bloomberg Terminal, and FundRecs.
Personal Interests
Programming is a passion of mine, and I am currently working on a chess game using C# with JetBrains Rider IDE and Avalonia UI. My goal is to build my own chess engine and position evaluation feature that can be entered into chess-bot tournaments.
I have done a lot of learning over the past year in programming, I started by taking as many courses as I could on Codeacademy and eventually progressing to using YouTube and other AI tools to help build some of my projects.
What I have been learning
From Codecademy
- Beginner to Advanced Python using Codeacademy
- Business Intelligence Analytics
- Beginner and Intermediate JavaScript
- Web Development basics, covering HTML, CSS and JS
From YouTube and Project work
- SQL and Data Analysis from personal projects and exploratory analysis
- C# and C++ From creating my own chess engine/AI
- Webapps for personal use, written in python and javascript
From Coursera
- It automation with python, by Google - Covering advanced python, regex, interacting with the os using python, and bash scripting
- Google Data Analytics - covering data gathering, cleaning, exploratory analysis and visualising with tools like tableau and R
Check out my Data and Visualisations to see some of the work I've done in data analysis and visualisation.
Calling myself an athlete would be a stretch, however I have always trained across a few sports such as rugby and weightlifting
- In 2023, I began training and competed in my first powerlifting competition, achieving second place in the IrishPF September open in the u120kg class with stand out lifts of a 235kg squat and 240kg deadlift
- In rugby, I have been playing for nearly all of my life, starting with my home club of Cill Dara, Moving to my college team Trinity College Dublin for a short while before my most recent club Terenure College RFC
- Currently, I have started Muay Thai and BJJ as a way of trying new things and meeting new people in Sydney - I have loved this so far, and intend on keeping it up for a while at least
